Food and Drug Administration Dedicates Buildings 31 AND 32 Located at their White Oak, MD Campus

Tompkins Builders of Washington, D.C., recently completed the OC/ORA office building for the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on their White Oak Campus in Maryland. The OC/ORA Building is comprised of two conjoining buildings – Buildings 31 and 32, which were dedicated at a recent ribbon-cutting ceremony on March 1st.

Present at the ribbon–cutting ceremony were U.S. Senator Barbara Mikulski; Bob Peck, GSA’s Public Buildings Commissioner; Dr. Margaret Hamburg, FDA Commissioner; and Representative Donna Edwards, Maryland, 4th District. More than 300 people attended this ribbon cutting ceremony, where the future of the FDA’s new campus was discussed.

All buildings on the campus, existing and from this point going forward, will endeavor to achieve LEED® Gold status because, as Bob Peck said, “At GSA, we pride ourselves on creating buildings that are worthy of the American people. Here, we have created buildings and a campus worthy of the mission and of the men and women of the FDA. In addition to providing an attractive, productive, and collaborative workplace, we have created sustainable buildings that promote employee health and wellness, important everywhere but nowhere so much as for an agency that maintains the health and wellness of all Americans.”

Tompkins is currently finishing site work and landscaping at the OC/ORA campus. This is the fourth building that Tompkins has built for the FDA and the third on the White Oak campus.
